For grown-ups

Frequently asked questions

Everything a parent usually wants to know before handing over the tablet.

What is Wonderkin?

Wonderkin is a parent-controlled AI companion for children. It helps a child with homework, creative play, and curious questions, in language matched to their age — while you, the grown-up, stay in control of the settings and can see what happens.

Does my child need their own account?

No. Only a parent or guardian creates an account. Your child never signs in, never has a password, and never enters an email address. You hand them the device in Kid Mode, which is locked behind your parent PIN.

What ages is Wonderkin for?

Roughly ages 5 to 13. Wonderkin adapts its vocabulary, explanations, and even the size of the chat text to your child's age band, so a six-year-old and a twelve-year-old get very different conversations.

What if I forget my parent PIN?

Tap “Forgot your PIN?” on the locked screen and we email you a one-time code — only you can read your inbox, so only you can set a new PIN. Entering the wrong PIN too many times pauses attempts for 15 minutes, which keeps a curious child from guessing their way in.

What happens if I delete a child's profile?

You'll be asked to type the child's name to confirm, because it removes their chats and history. The profile disappears immediately, and after 30 days it is permanently erased. If it was deleted by mistake, contact support within those 30 days and we can restore it. Deleting your whole account, by contrast, erases everything right away.

How do you keep my child safe?

Safety runs before the AI answers, not after. Every message is screened by a content-moderation system and a separate crisis classifier. Anything a child shares — including photos — is checked before the AI ever sees it, and if the check fails we refuse rather than guess. If we flag something serious, you get an alert on your dashboard and, if you enable it, a notification on your phone.

Can I see what my child talks about?

Yes. From your dashboard you can watch a child's conversation live, review safety alerts, set daily message limits, choose which activities are enabled, and pause the service at any time.

Who at Wonderkin can read my child's messages?

Ordinary conversations are yours alone — nobody at Wonderkin reads them. When our safety systems flag something serious, the flagged message is added to a review queue that a small number of authorised staff can see, including a short excerpt of what triggered the flag. This is how we check that the safety system is working and catch anything it got wrong. Alerts sent to our phones carry only a severity level, never your child's name or their words.

I forgot my password. How do I get back in?

Use the 'Forgot your password?' link on the login page and we will email you a link to set a new one. If you signed up with Google, there is no password to reset — just log in with Google. Wonderkin staff can send that reset email to you, but we can never see or choose your password, and we will never ask you for it.

Can my child share a photo, and does Wonderkin create images?

Your child can share a photo — for example, a page of homework — and Wonderkin will look at it and help. Wonderkin never generates or creates images. The photo is screened for safety, read once to answer the question, and then discarded. We do not store your child's pictures.

Can my child talk to Wonderkin instead of typing?

Yes, if you turn it on. Voice input is a per-child switch in your dashboard and stays off until you enable it. Your child taps the microphone, speaks, and their words appear in the message box to read and fix before they choose to send — nothing is sent automatically. The recording is used once to turn speech into text and is never stored: we keep the words, not the voice.

Can Wonderkin answer questions about God and the Bible?

That's your choice. Faith & Bible questions is a per-child switch that stays off until you turn it on. When it's on, Wonderkin answers questions about God, the Bible, and Christian faith warmly and simply, sticking to what Christians broadly share — and it never uses scary ideas like hell or punishment with a child. Differences between churches and the really big questions are gently pointed back to the family. When it's off, everyday schoolwork about religion and history still gets a normal factual answer, and the personal questions are saved for you.

What data do you store about my child?

Only what you give us and what the conversation produces: the child's first name, date of birth, chosen avatar, and their chat messages. We do not sell data, we run no advertising, and we use no third-party trackers. Old conversation content is automatically purged over time, and you can export or permanently delete everything from your Account page.

Is there a free trial? Do I need a credit card?

Yes, and no. Every new account gets a 14-day free trial with no payment card required. You can use Wonderkin fully before deciding whether to subscribe.

How much does Wonderkin cost?

The Family plan is a single monthly subscription that covers all of your children, with higher daily limits and a smarter model. Current pricing is shown on the Pricing page.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel with one click from the Billing page. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for and will not renew. We also offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment.

Which AI powers Wonderkin, and is it appropriate for kids?

Wonderkin uses Claude from Anthropic, wrapped in our own age-adaptive instructions, topic controls, and safety layers. Wonderkin always tells your child it is a friendly computer and not a real person, and it never pretends otherwise.

Is Wonderkin COPPA-minded?

Wonderkin is built around verifiable parental consent and data minimisation: the parent holds the account, gives consent before a child can use the service, can view and export the data, and can erase it completely at any time. We collect no more about a child than is needed to run the service.

How do I get help?

Email [email protected] and a real person will reply, usually within two business days.
